Employers in the Fund
The Local Government Pension Scheme is a public service pension scheme which is managed nationally and administered locally by Administering Authorities such as The Tyne and Wear Pension Fund.
Employers who participate in the Local Government Pension Scheme fall into one of the following categories:
Scheduled Bodies - A Scheme Employer is a body defined as such within the 1997 Regulations. Such Employers must participate in the Pension Scheme.
Resolution Bodies (also known as Designating Bodies) - Some LGPS employers are designated as resolution bodies - i.e. they have the power to decide if an employee or group of employees can belong to the LGPS and pass a resolution accordingly.
Admitted Bodies - An Administering Authority may make an admission agreement with any admission body. An admission agreement is an agreement that all or any specified class of the admission body's employees may be members of the Pension Scheme.
