Underpayment of Tax Notices - December 2011
You may have recently received a second underpayment of tax notice from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), after receiving an initial incorrect tax notice and a letter of apology from HMRC.
HMRC have told us that they have wrongly sent a number of letters to our members again notifying them of an underpayment of tax. If you have received such a letter (known as a Form P800) and believe it to be incorrect please do not contact us. HMRC are investigating what went wrong and will put this right. They are writing to all the members who have received a further incorrect Form P800 to apologise for this second error. These apology letters should arrive in late December.
HMRC will review each individual case and will contact you in mid to late January to confirm your correct tax position. HMRC will not make any changes to your 2012-13 tax code until they have completed this review and confirmed that your tax position is correct.
